Horses don't buck for fun.

We had an activity packed saturday past.

Was a bit let down by Spiderman 3 (But I realised we weren't the only ones). It was all around the effects.. Storyline was thin as a *ahem* spider's web. Having said that, it was cool seeing venom - one of my favourite comic bad guys. Would've liked more of him rather than the sandman storyline.

Before we went into the cinema, Shirley and I were actually wondering how many movies Spiderman could go for. It's been six years and there've been three so far. Die Hard has 4 coming up. Superman had 5. Star Wars had 6. No way it could catch up with the 21 James Bond movies. But I reckon it has a chance to equal Star Wars before Tobey Maguire just outgrows spidey.

Shortly after, we went to watch the Rodeo. I'd wanted to do this because I realised I'd never seen a rodeo, apart from on TV and NO one I knew had either. So I thought this was something we should go check out for ourselves.

Outside the Vodafone arena, there were a group of protestors chanting to draw attention to the event. We didn't think much of it at first 'cos we reckoned it was the same argument as the circuses - depending on who you ask, anyone non-vegetarian might be cruel to animals. So we didn't think much of it. Changed our minds when we got home and read up a little more. Apparently they use a rope-thingy to clamp the sensitive bits of the horses, and that's what makes them buck like crazy. And all along we were thinking that they were just un-broken horses who weren't used to being ridden.

Videos below. The bucking one is a little surreal. I don't know how people can subject themselves to that, let alone the horse. The other one is fantastic though. Having ridden quite a few times now, I can tell you it's really difficult to get a horse to walk sideways like that, let alone with the level of control that this guy has.

That aside, Happy birthday Jonah ! and Congratulations to Glenn and Daphne for entering the next phase in their lives - parenthood. I can imagine Glenn and Daph decking him out in baby harley gear, and bringing him to see all sorts of wonderful sights.

Have more stuff to post. But will get to it later.
