And to complete the trifecta of posts (Melbourne Cup theme, nudge nudge), the concept of $500/bl oil was kinda scary. So Shirley came up with the wonderful idea of 'scooting' to work, while I drove the much more fuel-efficient Suzuki Swift in place of my 3ltr Gas Guzzling Avalon.

After a few hours trolling through ebay and online classifieds, I found an unloved electric scooter which needed a few spare parts, and a new home.

A few days of touchups, solder and greasy hands later, Shirley Davidson was scooting her way to work in 9 minutes (Yes. We live that close to her work).

It doesn't go very fast but for 30 bucks, a new charger and a couple of 12V batteries, you can't really complain eh ;)
