Sales & rentals of "A Beautiful Mind" plummet & SGDay musings

Apparently Russell Crowe's a really good actor because unlike his potrayal of John Nash in A Beautiful Mind, Rusty dun count so gud.

To be fair, I've made worse errors. :P

Also, despite several reminders, I completely forgot about Singapore Day in Melbourne.

To be honest though, I still don't quite get the aim of the day. Are we meant to be celebrating NOT being in Singapore ? Looking at the programme doesn't tell me a whole lot either. And quite frankly, Dick Lee isn't a real big reason to go.

And I have to say, in terms of highlights, I don't exactly consider the exhibition "NS: 40 years on" a big incentive either.

I do like how they're trying to recruit people to work in Singapore with the Careers@Home segment but I do note how most of these 'potential dream job providers' are Govt or quasi-govt organisations. I'd guess they're targetting uni grads who're just about to head back to Singapore but you have to admit, that's a pretty specific niche to be focusing on. Singapore-citizen uni grads from Melbourne who're keen to work in Govt agencies. I'm assuming u need to be a singapore citizen to be a civil servant (e.g. MOH, STB).

At the end of the day, the thing that'll really get us across the line (and to line up if necessary), is going to be the food. Judging from the last SG Day they had in NY, it does look fairly yum. It may be time to top up on my depleted lard levels. *Slurp*

Will post pix if we really do make it there.

Related, but not really - I came across an interesting 'statistic' from a poster in London. He/she reckons that're 40,000 Singaporeans in the UK. Based on what I was last told as population in Singapore, that's 0.8% of the Singapore population in one country. FWAH!
