Moomba 08

We went to catch a bit of the Moomba Birdman Rally on Sunday. If you're not familiar with the name, the event basically requires people to dress up in silly costumes or build impressive-looking contraptions and fling themselves off a platform to see how far they can fly.

We saw this guy looking absolutely ridiculous but it's all in the spirit of fun and charity, which validates the silliness.

Incidentally, the name Moomba apparently means something quite rude. But considering they've already had the name for half a century, they decide to stick with it.

Speaking of sticking with it, we didn't stay long at the rally. It hit 37 degrees that day. Not a nice day to be out mingling with the masses and sharing body heat. After watching a handful of ridiculous birdmen, we retired to the dog park so Ginger and Lucy could have a run (which as the photos potray, didn't really happen either.. They were both too hot!)

So anyway, it was a nice quiet long weekend for us. Here're a couple of pics of Ginger and Lucy for friends back home.
