1) Run Forrest, Run
First off the bat and this stage, probably the most unlikely to be met. Is to be able to run a half marathon (21km) by mid this year. So I'm talking end-june. Yes. I'm terribly unfit. I've never been much of an endurance guy. My handful of medals from primary school and basketball activities all required me to run quickly. Not for a long time.
So anyway, the way I worked it out, by the middle of my target time frame, I should be able to run 10km no sweat. Middle of that time frame equals april.
Considering I have hardly gotten off my bum the whole of january, it's not looking good.
2) Nerdus Maximus
After my MBA, I guess the next qualification I'd go after is a PhD although that would imply I'd be interested in teaching. Which I'm not. So I figured I needed some new 'brain goal' to work towards.
And one of the questions I've asked myself is. Would I be able to get into Mensa ?
Had a peek at the website :
Mensa is an international society with only one criterion for membership: a score on a standardised IQ test higher than that of 98 per cent of the general population.
Right.
I like to think I'm better than average. So that puts me at 51%. Now I've gotta figure out a way to beat that other 47%.
Anyway, so goal #2 is to sit for the Mensa test in feb. To be fair to myself, the goal isn't necessarily to get in. But just to take the test. That happens in feb so we'll see how I go.
3) Tiger Would
Bad pun. Sorry about that. Yeah. Goal this first half of the year is to get my golf game to 24 and below above par. If I manage to do that, then the second half of the year, I might try my hand at sailing.
Not very interesting huh. Just trying to push myself further I guess.
4) Make some spare cash
The dot-commer in me is dying to get out again. Before I get entrenched in corporate culture or another routine again, I'm going to give building an idea another go. For now, it's only progressed slightly beyond the idea stage so I'll post updates again as (and if) it develops.
Other nice-to-haves
5) New car.
6) Write a book (I initially had this down as one of my key goals but I'm really dry on book ideas at the moment)
That's about it.
There. They're out in the open. So hopefully I'll stick to or work towards some of them at least. Even if I don't make 100%, getting part of the way there would be good.
Hope your 2007 is going well so far !
Comments are open for suggestions / ideas :)
Update : speaking of going well, some idiot brushed my bumper yesterday. I saw the damage yesterday but wasn't sure that it wasn't me hitting something else. Then my friend and I worked out today that at the angle and point of impact, it had to be someone hitting me. *grrr* . Hope he/she gets infected with lice and has to scratch till all his/her hair falls out.. Luckily it's purely cosmetic or I'd unleash the unspeakable curse on him/her.

Wow dude, you've got some pretty ambitious resolutions, signalling that you do have quite some time on your hands huh? :P My simple-in-comparison resolutions are: a.to adapt to motherhood like a fish to water; b.to regain my pre-pregnancy weight; and c.to take at least 1 holiday this year (with or without baby in tow) :) Best of luck with yours!!!
