Just when I was about to post pictures of our short sailing adventure, I came across this.
Yikes.
Basically, to cut a long story short and make it easier for those too lazy to click the link, scientists are increasingly finding evidence that a large asteroid has hit the earth once every few thousand years. The last one possibly striking 4,800 years ago, generating a tidal wave 13 times larger than the one that hit Indonesia.
13 times larger.
Aside from all the implications about the great biblical flood and all that, what’s even more scary is that Singapore, despite being an island somewhat surrounded by land masses could easily get wiped out in a tsunami of those epic proportions.
Maybe the HDB should start making those bomb shelters escape floatation devices as well. *shudder*
Anyway. Sailing photos soon.
