Read a somewhat scary blog entry regarding the bird flu. Some of what the author and even commentors said seemed disturbingly accurate.

Basically, the jist of it is that while the media keeps going back and forth between the bird flu being a serious threat (scare) and the threat being overstated (reassure), bird flu is actually increasing at a steady rate.

On the brighter side, it looks like the Aids problem is one step closer to being solved.

...positive interim results from a Phase I trail of Targeted Genetics’ investigational vaccine, called tgAAC09, were presented at the AIDS Vaccine 2006 Conference in Amsterdam.

Dr. Nathan Clumeck, head of the department of infectious diseases at St. Pierre University Hospital in Brussels, and principal investigator for the study, noted that no safety concerns were identified and that the vaccine was well tolerated."

Last on my news interest list, the mystery behind the Zidane-Materazzi incident during the world cup final has finally cleared up. Materazzi who received that infamous head-butt admitted to insulting Zidane's sister.

It was a fairly quiet weekend. Did a bit of catching up with friends, golfed, cycled, walked the dog, shopped, gardened(??)... Your typical suburban lifestyle I guess. It's not something that we've aspired to, but it's actually nice when interspliced with all the activity we do when we have visitors.

Speaking of visitors, my parents, aunt and her family are coming over on friday so we gotta get the house ship shape before then.

Back to work. Enjoy your tuesday !
