An ominous start to my day today. While munching on a black sesame bun from breadtop I found a stringy bit which turned out to be a hair. At first I thought that it was just a bit of shirley's hair which had gotten into the plastic bag containing my bun.
On further investigation (i.e. I continued eating), I found more of that hair hiding in the sesame paste! Dammit. I'd already eaten 90% of it. Not being one to leave things unfinished, I gulped the rest of it down.
So if I happen to keel over from bleach poisoning or something similar the next couple of days. It was the black sesame bun from breadtop.
Speaking of icky things...
Yesterday afternoon, shirley called me panicking over the phone. There'd been an ant problem in our house but it looked like it had gone away. That is until shirley accidentally stumbled upon the nest so she went nuts with the ant spray like a vandal with on a mission. I went home last night to KA-GILLIONS of dead ants on my patio. I'm not exaggerating. There were so many ants I couldn't see the floor underneath. I was sweeping away PILES of the dead insectoids.
Bought some industrial strength insecticide last night. Will be busy spraying down the house this weekend.
Oops. Forgot that I promised to post about my trip back home.
Here's a whirlwind summary, representative of my whirlwind trip.
Monday - Got the news that my grandma passed away. Booked ticket.
Tuesday - Flew to Singapore.
Wednesday - Arrived in the morning, had a prata. Ran a few errands with my mom on the way to the wake.
Thursday - Cursing the weather, ran a few more errands with mom and spent more time catching up with family and friends at the wake.
Friday - Emotional but strangely fulfiling funeral and burial ceremony. My grandma now lies peacefully at Choa Chu Kang Christian cemetary. Had a nice late lunch with family, and caught up a lot with cousins. Dinner with my parents at Rising Sun Japanese Restaurant at CHIJMES.
Saturday - Big dinner with Shirley's family at her grandma's favourite restaurant at Bukit Gombak.
Sunday - Frantic last-minute buying of stuff that we can't get over here. A bit of golf with Shahn at Bishan. Caught up with Ailing in the evening.
Monday - Breakfast with Sher Lin, then flew back to Australia.
*Puff puff pant pant* You can see why I'm still a little tired :P Will be nice to unwind this weekend and get back to my normal pace of life.
