*yipe!* I thought with all the reading I did before school started, I might be better at keeping up the pace. But I'm already feeling like I'm starting to fall behind !
Managed to sneak in a bit of reading though, and I came across Bush's headline-making speech (at last count there were 1213 articles just about this).
What I find really amusing (or disturbing) is this particular quote from his speech : " Instead of being killed or captured on the battlefield, some of Saddam's elite guards shed their uniforms and melted into the civilian population. These elements of Saddam's repressive regime and secret police have reorganized, rearmed, and adopted sophisticated terrorist tactics. They've linked up with foreign fighters and terrorists. "
In one swift move, he's erasing the memory of their justification of the war in the first place - WMD.
Now he subsumes the Iraqi invasion and its following chaos as being part of the "War on Terror"
Which is pretty funny if you look at it from a cause and effect perspective - that where Bush attacks, more terrorists grow. Ergo, to reduce the number of terrorists, don't attack ? maybe ?
Anyway, here's the choice quote from the speech " They commit dramatic acts of murder to shock, frighten and demoralize civilized nations, hoping we will retreat from the world and give them free rein. They seek weapons of mass destruction, to impose their will through blackmail and catastrophic attacks. None of this is the expression of a religion. It is a totalitarian political ideology, pursued with consuming zeal, and without conscience. "
For a moment there, I thought he was talking about his administration !
*shudders at the irony*
On the bright side, wife added pancakes to her arsenal of culinary delights. Yay ! *small wins!*
