Picking up the car later. Somehow I’m not as excited as I think I should be. Maybe the idea of handing over a 5 figure cheque negates the excitement somewhat. Anyway, no matter, it’s just a car after all.
Speaking of excitement, Shirz and I yesterday came to the conclusion that being domesticated wasn’t doing us any good. So we’re looking to embark on some more interesting activities. Golf ? (“Finally” I hear some of you say) Boating ? After all, we’re living where there’re “Four seasons in one day”
In the press release (linked above) published on 3 Feb, it reads “Victoria's weather records would need a new chapter following unprecedented weather in the past 24 hours. "Victoria has experienced extreme weather during the past 24 hours, with all-time rainfall records tumbling, very cold temperatures for this time of the year, and very strong winds,”
The inclement weather got me thinking how fortunate we were that our ‘extreme’ weather was limited to cold temperatures and strong winds. On the other hand, thousands of people in the Tsunami hit regions were still rebuilding their lives. This report on Reuters filed by Gerry talks about the positive work that’s been going on.
A quick look at the Singapore Red Cross site shows they’ve spent 35 of the 86 million they raised for the Tidal Wave Appeal. With the reduced interest in global attention towards South Asia, I wonder how they’re going to be disbursing the funds.
Kind of disheartening to think that the NGO sector is rife with market inefficiencies. But that’s another story. Going to pick up the car now. Pix to follow.
