Bought a house.

Here's the breakdown of what happened:
Decided it was time to get a place of our own. Started house-shopping. Saw 6 houses every weekend. Came across a few close shaves, including the house near the public housing.

Eventually, Shirz found one. Not too big (hard to clean), not too small (space for dog, kids, etc), amenities nearby (bus, walk to train) and albeit out of our original price range, in a neighbourhood that Joe is happy with (low crime, reasonable potential for capital gains).

So we planned a whole big negotiation scenario (scripted. I kid u not). All flew out the window when the agent turned out to be tougher than we expected. But we set the price where we'd have walked away if it was a dollar more.

And they took it.

Yes Daph, it's got 3 bedrooms for when u guys pop over again. Not sure whether to celebrate buying our first house, or whether to lament having the 'burden' of a home loan. Ahh well, c'est la vie. At least we get to call it home.
