Statisticians would say a Type I Error was committed with the case of the Brazilian Electrician being gunned down execution-style. What is interesting to note is also that this event marks a turning point in the 'presumption of innocence' traditionally practiced by countries strongly advocating human rights, in this case, the UK.

Basically, because he came out of a house that was under surveillance because of a 'suspected link', was apparently wearing thick clothing, and most importantly, did not stop when ordered to, he was shot five times in the head by a shooter with the intent to kill.

Sounds a little like the old Judge Dredd comics where law is enforced, judged and punishment meted out by the same person.

So who's responsible for this ? The one who labelled the house as a 'suspected link' ? The inspiration for the guy to dress with thicker clothes ? Or was it his fault for running ? Maybe it was the one who came up with the policy of 'shoot to kill'.

Either way, facts-wise, the guy is dead, the world keeps moving on. Sadly.

Shirz told me about a documentary about Chee Soon Juan. Being in Australia where we might have a better chance of seeing it, I was pretty uninspired to go seek out the clip.

So far, after having heard the guy talking in the street, I must say I've been quite un-impressed. He sounds more like an attention-seeker than having anything really substantial to say.

Anyway, will see if I get a chance to review it. But it's going to be hard to beat the Annabel Chong documentary.
